How intimidated are you by the thought of cooking dinner for yourself, a loved one or a group of friends? Trash the pizza box and learn to shop, cook and present a meal that shows how much you care. What may sound intimidating may just be the next step in bringing your skill set to a much higher level.
South Bay School of Cooking offers a range of topics from basic cooking with herbs to Global Gastronomy. The menus and topics will benefit those who do a solo saute, cooking as a couple or a tag team effort toward a multi-course meal.
Our emphasis is on FUN. You can’t cook on your couch. No matter how intriguing a cooking show may be, there is no better way to approach a recipe than with a firsthand experience in the kitchen. Your instructor has weathered the storms that all cooks face at one time or another. With nothing to prove and everything to share, she will give you the benefit of her efforts. Think about how useful her tips and tricks will be when you begin your journey. This is hands-on. Your active participation with fellow students will bring a menu into a meaningful game plan for a new meal. No take-out box at this arena; you eat while we do the dishes.
In addition to your taste buds, you may have forgotten about how the sense of sound plays into your food experience. Consider the sounds of a knife chopping herbs in rhythm, a mortar & pestle working magic for a salsa, or Chef Annette singing (yes, it happens) that make your time in the kitchen so memorable.
Sign up for something you like or are curious to explore in the kitchen. There’s plenty of coaching to help you maneuver through the studio. This is a place, where in the end, you keep score and home runs are more common than you thought possible. Remember, we said FUN!
