South Bay School of Cooking

Your Cooking Success Grows from Our Experience

While some people enjoy cooking and see it as a creative outlet, others see it as a chore to get out of the way. South Bay School of Cooking demonstrates techniques and tips that make prepping effortless; cooking and entertaining becomes recreational and less of a chore.

Unlike other cooking classes where students just sit around and passively observe while looking at an overhead mirror or video, in our classes you roll up your sleeves and feel the dough between your fingers or get busy slicing and dicing, and most of all, have fun while cooking.

South Bay School of Cooking offers hands-on cooking classes for adults and summer camps for kids. We serve residents of Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo, Torrance, Palos Verdes and Greater Los Angeles.

Our Staff

Chef Annette Gallardo
Take a professional chef who cooked around the greater Los Angeles area for a dozen years. Mix it with a dash of dancing with herbs as a former restaurant reviewer. For the heck of it, add a splash of merry steel drum music making. There you have it — Annette Gallardo’s recipe has captured all the senses for an exemplary hands-on experience.
Chef Kira White
Kira, who started her career as a teacher and school administrator, found herself dreaming of attending culinary school and becoming a chef. She eventually made the jump and even spent two years teaching at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts College, mastering classic French techniques. She enjoys cooking farm to table, well-balanced, organic, fresh and healthy. Kira has worked as an Executive Chef, Caterer, a food stylist on a talk show, coordinator for food festivals, and a private chef for A-list clients.
Chef Diana
Chef Diana Rivera teaches classes and assists. She graduated with an Associate degree from California School of Culinary Arts, Le Cordon Bleu program. After completing her studies, she worked for an all-organic catering company with a focus on vegetarian and vegan menus. She also worked in the Disney/ABC studios cafeteria and catering. What really interested Diana about working at SBSOC is that it was a cooking school where people come to learn the beauty of cooking and how to create something with only a few ingredients.
Gabriela, a young pastry chef from the South Bay, teaches many of our baking classes. Since graduating from Le Cordon Bleu, she has worked at great bakeries including Bottega Louie, Susie Cakes, and Sinner’s and Saints Gluten Free/ Vegan dessertery in Venice Beach. Gabriela hopes to help you master the science of baking and pastries!
Daniela “Dani” Lopez
Dani Lopez is our very own success story: a student a few years ago who loved us so much she became an assistant. Dani is South Bay School of Cooking’s real “cheerleader”. Dani always helps us deliver a wonderful culinary experience with her winning smile and help around the kitchen.
Mary, our Kitchen Assistant, has been teaching children’s cooking classes for 13 years at St. Lawrence summer camp. She has also art classes to children in Torrance for over 20 years.
Our Kitchen Assistant Austin joins us as he starts his culinary journey, en route to culinary school. He helps ensure that our classroom is prepared and that our students are all well taken care of during each class.
