South Bay School of Cooking

Your Cooking Success Grows from Our Experience

While some people enjoy cooking and see it as a creative outlet, others see it as a chore to get out of the way. South Bay School of Cooking demonstrates techniques and tips that make prepping effortless; cooking and entertaining becomes recreational and less of a chore.

Unlike other cooking classes where students just sit around and passively observe while looking at an overhead mirror or video, in our classes you roll up your sleeves and feel the dough between your fingers or get busy slicing and dicing, and most of all, have fun while cooking.

South Bay School of Cooking offers hands-on cooking classes for adults and summer camps for kids. We serve residents of Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo, Torrance, Palos Verdes and Greater Los Angeles.

Our Staff

Chef Annette Gallardo
Take a professional chef who cooked around the greater Los Angeles area for a dozen years. Mix it with a dash of dancing with herbs as a former restaurant reviewer. For the heck of it, add a splash of merry steel drum music making. There you have it — Annette Gallardo’s recipe has captured all the senses for an exemplary hands-on experience.
Vanessa Soltero
Los Angeles native Vanessa Soltero took a chance on culinary school in 2010 and hasn’t looked back. A recent competitor on season 15 of Hell’s Kitchen, this culinary dynamo has cooked for first class patrons of American Airlines.  Vanessa has worked at both the Los Angeles & Pebble Beach Food and Wine festivals. Her dream is to one day open a boutique hotel & restaurant in Las Vegas tailored to treating the raging Vegas hangover. And also to be on Jeopardy.
Chef Diana
Chef Diana Rivera teaches classes and assists. She graduated with an Associate degree from California School of Culinary Arts, Le Cordon Bleu program. After completing her studies, she worked for an all-organic catering company with a focus on vegetarian and vegan menus. She also worked in the Disney/ABC studios cafeteria and catering. What really interested Diana about working at SBSOC is that it was a cooking school where people come to learn the beauty of cooking and how to create something with only a few ingredients.
Chef Raquel
Chef Raquel attended the Cordon Bleu Pasadena and has cooked in a variety of settings. As for hobbies…she used to participate in roller derby and loves to ride motorcycles.
Brandi Loper
Our Kitchen Assistant Brandi Loper first came to us as a student. She is on her second masters in public health. She enjoys food and developed an appreciation for good wine while attending Sonoma State University.
